Outreach

Port Everglades strives to be an active member of the local community and provides numerous outreach opportunities.

To promote environmental awareness, Port Everglades built an Environmental Education Facility at the Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park complete with audio-video capabilities and supervised by park personnel. This 1,100-square-foot facility features a 700-ft. boardwalk to observe marine wildlife in the area as well as meeting space for various environmental groups. A variety of classes and interesting lectures are available at the center throughout the year for school groups and interested members of the community. When the facility was built in 1991, the port received the national American Association of Port Authorities Environmental Award of Excellence for the project and its community outreach potential.

Port Everglades also hosts several special events throughout the year such as Fleet Week and offers group tours of port facilities. In addition, the port's staff members are available to address business groups and community organizations through the port's Speakers Bureau.
